Larry houghton's musical adventures 2000-2025

Larry Houghton

UPRIGHT AND ELECTRIC BASS, ACOUSTIC AND ELECTRIC GUITAR, MANDOLIN, KEYS, FIDDLE, DRUMS, VOCALS, SONG WRITER, SOUND ENGINEER, AND PRODUCER

I was a bit of a late comer to music. I developed a passion for music and began to play around the age 30. While getting my PhD at Virginia Tech, at the time, a stranger and prominent member of the New River Valley Old Time community,  Bill Richardson convinced me to play upright bass for his southern string band “The Jugbusters”. After enjoying 6 great years of friendship, music, and gigs with the Jugbusters, the call of family and the White Mountains lured me back home to NH. Over the past 20+ years I have been teaching myself and learning from others how to play and record multiple instruments, song writing, and producing albums. I enjoy playing both upright and electric bass, Acoustic and Electric guitar, mandolin, piano, keys, singing, a little drums, and most recently fiddle and banjitar. I have played out with and/or recorded with many bands covering several genres of music over the years (past projects).  I am currently playing with The Treetellers. I grew up in New Boston, NH - moved away for 20 years and now live in Concord, NH - I teach Human A&P and Environmental Science at Goffstown High School.
